Rail passenger transport has played an important role in urban, suburban, as well as on medium and long-haul routes, considered a structuring and high-capacity mode. The main challenge in this sector is to promote its integration throughout the travel chain, enabling the rail mode to effectively fulfil its role.
Rail freight transport has been growing in Portugal, although its share is relatively small compared to the other modes of transport. However, the need to adopt more environmentally and energy-efficient modes will lead to a progressive increase in its share, raising very important issues regarding integration, regulation and management, whose resolution is fundamental to ensure a flow of processes that allows the maintenance of high levels of economic efficiency and service.
The vast experience and the diversity of projects in this area guarantee a rigorous and updated approach to the projects we carry out.
In our curriculum, we include studies and projects for passenger, freight and mixed rail systems, in urban (light and heavy metro), suburban, regional, interregional and international (conventional and high-speed systems) environments, enabling us to offer a wide range of skills related to the railway sector as well as a systemic view on the issues related to this mode.
